Pass Your Driving Test

If you hope to pass your driving test, there is much to learn - both in terms of theory and practical skills. Whether this is your first attempt, or the umpteenth time you have tried to pass, we can offer advice, assistance and tips to help you safely negotiate the obstacles posed by the driving test.

In order to earn your full driving licence, you need to pass two driving tests: one theory and one practical. The DSA driving theory test comprises a two-section examination. The multiple choice section examines your understanding of the theory behind driving, while a hazard perception section tests your awareness of potential hazards on the road.

Driving tests begin with an eyesight check and some questions about vehicle safety. You will be required to demonstrate an overall safe standard of driving as well as carrying out set manoeuvres competently. Upon completion of this 40 minute assessment, your examiner will inform you whether or not you have passed your driving test.

• You can make up to 15 minor faults and still pass the driving test.
• One or more serious or dangerous faults will result in you failing the test.
